Hatcherbros

Many different people came to see the Bermondsey Street Odyssey exhibition in September. Some came specifically to see the story of Henry Thorne, some to see the films and videos and others to see the gallery of prints.

One of our favourite visitors was Linda, who came all the way from Welling with this picture of Thomas Hatcher sitting just outside the entrance to Tanner House. Hatcher Bros was a haulage firm based next door at No 9 Tanner Street. Linda believed that the photo was taken in about 1960. Strange to think that the horse and cart was directly in front of the Bermondsey Street Odyssey gallery where we were looking at the photo!
